Another week, another award!
16 October 2024
For the second year running we came away from BD's Architect of the Year Awards with an amazing accolade, winning the title of 'Creative Conservation Architect of the Year' against some very stiff opposition.
Our entry comprised the recently completed projects for the restoration of Sheerness Dockyard Church and the transformation of Clifford's Tower in York, alongside our ongoing project for archaeological protective shelters at Nea Paphos in Cyprus.
The jury recognised the value of our building-led approach underpinned by research and analysis of the historical, social, cultural and environmental context to retain each site's unique spirit of place.
The judges observed: 'Sheerness Dockyard's restoration and reinvention of a derelict site, Clifford's Tower elegant new viewing deck, and the proptotype archaeological shelters' innovative protection of sensitive sites showcase a strong, bold yet sensitive body of work, reflecting Hugh Broughton's deep understanding of heritage sustainability and collaborative approach'.
