The Power of Four

Our project to bring the ruined Dockyard Church in Sheerness back to vibrant life has won four awards from the RIBA South East Region: RIBA SE Award, RIBA SE Conservation Project of the Year, RIBA SE Building of the Year and RIBA Project Architect of the Year for our very own Robert Songhurst. The judges described the project as “exquisitely restored”.

Westminster public toilets

The City of Westminster has reopened newly upgraded public conveniences on the Victoria Embankment, designed by Hugh Broughton Architects as part of a wider transformation programme across Westminster which will see the upgrade of 8 different sites over the next two years. The architectural scheme improves layouts and provides a robust material palette which reflects Westminster’s commitment to the public realm.

Biomimicry

Following our successful inclusion on the design framework for Kew Gardens we have completed our first project: a timber enclosure for new irrigation pumps. 

The pump house is part of a broader project to ensure water security across the gardens and demonstrates a commitment to the institution’s environmental sustainability goals.

Another week, another award!

For the second year running we came away from BD's Architect of the Year Awards with an amazing accolade, winning the title of 'Creative Conservation Architect of the Year' against some very stiff opposition.

Our entry comprised the recently completed projects for the restoration of Sheerness Dockyard Church and the transformation of Clifford's Tower in York, alongside our ongoing project for archaeological protective shelters at Nea Paphos in Cyprus.

It was a night to remember at the RICS Awards Grand Final event held at the Park Plaza Riverbank in London. Our project for the restoration of Sheerness Dockyard Church in Kent walked away with the regional Heritage Award and the evening's grand prize - the coveted 'Project of the Year' Award!

Our project for Clifford's Tower has been recognised at the RIBA Awards ceremony held in York last night. The project has picked up a RIBA regional award, the RIBA Yorkshire conservation award, and the RIBA Yorkshire client of the year award for English Heritage.

Clifford's Tower recognised on the global stage

The project for the conservation and design of visitors facilities at Clifford's Tower in York has been Highly Commended at the Dezeen Awards 2023. The Awards attracted over 4800 entries from 94 countries. The judges citation read: "This sensitive renovation of a 13th-century tower successfully preserves the historic fabric of the building while providing new ways for visitors to experience the ancient structure."
